Prickscilla Thornthrope (2025 Garden Monster @ NEWFIELDS)

Meet Prickscilla Thornthrope, Lady of the Undergrowth, friend to all. The idea of Prickscilla came from natural references found (mostly) in real life. Her build references a very large, very animated thorn. As Lady of the Undergrowth, she represents thickets and thorns shown by the placement of vines, greenery, and shrubbery. She’s a protector and a
guide—a reminder that even in the prickliest of times, all it takes is an outstretched hand to show you the way back home.

This is my second sculpture from a collection of artwork created for Newfields (formerly Indianapolis Museum of Art) for their "Harvest Nights" outdoor exhibit. Garden Monsters are intended to blend into their natural surroundings in the Garden at Newfields and to be made from mostly natural materials - as well as follow the yearly theme (this year's theme was "Thickets & Thorns").

I was fortunate enough to be one of the seven chosen artists out of 33 applicants for this opportunity this year! This project is currently on display at Newfields and will be there until November 2nd.
